Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.  We are excited to announce the arrival of new laser surgery technology.  All of our surgeries can now be enhanced with the use of the laser!

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.  We monitor such things as blood pressures, end tidal carbon dioxide, oxygen content of the blood, core body temperatures, heart and respiration rates, and more.  We have specially trained technicians assigned to monitor each animal under anesthesia for one on one care.

Emergency medicine and surgical consults: We offer in hospital referrals to an emergency medicine and surgery specialist who helps us with the diagnosis and treatment of more complicated cases.  We also have a working relationship with many nearby specialty practices and can offer referrals as needed on a case by case basis.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.  In many cases xrays will be taken as you wait and  you will have your answers very quickly.  We do NOT require anesthesia for all radiographs.

Radiology Consults: A board certifed radiologist is available for consultation as well as for ultrasonography services.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.  We can evaluate if your pet needs root canals, incline planes, or major orthodonture work and refer you to the appropriate board certified dentist.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We can also test for many of the common diseases here in the hospital (Parvovirus, Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodefiency Virus, heartworm, etc) and you'll have your answer in minutes!  Blood gas testing is also available.  We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification.  We use InfoPet here as this is the microchip used by the Ventura County Animal Services and the most likely to be effective if your animal gets lost here in Ventura County.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. Our Doctors and staff will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  Our doctors and staff will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.  We can help give you advice in selecting just the right food to keep your pet healthy.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, separation anxiety, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  We are experienced in the techniques of behavior modification and can prescribe medication if it seems necessary after a detailed consultation.

Boarding:  We provide medical boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Bathing:  Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available by appointment.

Emergency Care:  Please call our main telephone number for instructions about after-hour emergencies.  We accept emergencies during our normal office hours.  Emergencies are always given first priority and the full attention of our trained veterinary medical team.
